Physician Profile
In 2006, Dr. Pugach moved back to Texas, and founded Complete Med Care, a Dallas urgent care and family medicine office. After 15 years of practicing in Dallas and the 2020 pandemic, he moved the practice to Plano, and renamed it Pure Spring Medical, since over years the practice has been more focused on primary care than urgent care.
Growing up in Dallas as a child, Isaac Zinovy Pugach (pronounced POOH-gach) graduated from Richardson High School. He studied as an undergrad at Rice University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree and graduating with Honors. Subsequently, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. After graduating in the top quarter of his medical school class, Dr. Pugach completed postgraduate Emergency Medicine internship and Internal Medicine residency at large teaching hospitals in New York City. After taking the American Board of Internal Medicine certification exam and scoring in the top 10% of the candidates, Doctor Pugach became board certified in Internal Medicine. He has been licensed and has practiced medicine since 2003.
Dr. Pugach has special interest in diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. As an Internal Medicine specialist, Dr. Pugach also diagnoses difficult-to-diagnose medical problems.
Spanish and Russian are spoken in Dr. Pugach's office.
I believe in treating patients, not the symptoms - this is the most important part of my practice. My training in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine encompassed a wide array of approaches to medical problems, from conservative to aggressive, so I weigh the risks and the benefits arising from a particular therapeutic modality, as it applies to each patient individually. In situations when there is more than one correct approach, I believe that the patient should have a significant input in their treatment.
I have special interest in adult and weight-related disorders, such as hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes. I understand that many patients prefer not to take medications for these conditions. Certain patients are candidates to have their blood pressure treated non-pharmacologically (without pills), by FDA approved methods - other than diet and exercise. Additionally, if you have high cholesterol and cannot tolerate statins, we can work together and use treatments that either do not involve statins or prescribe them in a fashion that will not cause intolerable side effects. I do not want the cure to be worse than the disease.
Additionally, as an Internal Medicine specialist, Dr. Pugach also diagnoses difficult-to-diagnose medical problems, and performs chart reviews to give a second opinion to patients.
I prefer a compassionate and personal way of communication with my patients, and I hope to become a part of every patient's extended family.
